The Remarkable Bernabé de las Casas Museum

If you want to learn more about this region of the country and about humanity, this is the place to be.

Nuevo León has more than 40 museums both within and outside the Monterrey metropolitan area. In all of them, you can find exhibits showcasing art, local culture, and the history of the municipality or region where they are located. But in this museum, you’ll find much more.

The Bernabé de las Casas Museum is located in the town of Mina and is a collection of historical, paleontological, archaeological, and anthropological artifacts that tells a story far beyond the town’s history.

There you’ll find fascinating exhibits such as a mammoth skull discovered in Mina in 1988, one of the best-preserved in the world. You can also see some marine fossils, a small reminder of when this part of Mexico was submerged under the Tethys Sea during the Mesozoic era.

You’ll also be able to see cave paintings and various artifacts used by the region’s earliest settlers. But perhaps most intriguing of all, you’ll find various exhibits on topics that are deeply rooted in the local and state culture, such as Niño Fidencio and Northeastern cuisine.

In short, this museum is unlike any other. We highly recommend visiting it and, while you're there, exploring the town, taking a stroll, and enjoying a peaceful day. You can find its location here.
