Nuevo León: A Land of Passion for Sports
We are a vibrant, energetic state, known for our rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and an unbridled passion for sports. Here, sporting events are much more than just competitions; they are expressions of a fiercely competitive spirit and a close-knit community. Here are some of the major sporting events that make the heart of Nuevo León beat.
GNP Seguros-Monterrey Open
This event is part of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) professional tour and attracts some of the world’s top female tennis players. The tournament has become a highlight of the tennis calendar and is typically held at the Sonoma Club, giving local fans the opportunity to enjoy exciting, high-level tennis matches. The next edition in our state will take place in August 2024.
Ironman 70.3
The Ironman 70.3 Monterrey is one of the most prominent sporting events in Nuevo León and is part of the global Ironman 70.3 triathlon circuit. This exciting event attracts athletes from around the world who are looking to test their swimming, cycling, and running skills in an endurance competition.
It also offers a unique experience for both competitors and spectators. Our city provides a spectacular setting for the competition, with its combination of mountainous landscapes and lively urban atmosphere.
2023 Pan-American Race
This year, the Carrera Panamericana finished in our city on October 19.
The event, which featured more than 70 classic and sports cars, took place from October 13 to 19 and traveled through eight states in Mexico, including Nuevo León. The total distance covered was 3,500 kilometers.
The southern part of the state and the Citrus Region welcomed all the participants. Dr. Arroyo, General Zaragoza (Magical Town), Galeana, Aramberri, Montemorelos, Allende, Santiago (Magical Town), Rayones, Linares (Magical Town), San Pedro, and Monterrey also served as hosts.
