N.L.’S CRADLE

In honor to Dr. Jose Maria Coss. Based on the northeast of Nuevo Leon, at coordinates 25º56′ latitude north and 99º10′ longitude west. Borders with Tamaulipas to the north, with General Bravo to the south, with General Bravo and Tamaulipas to the east, and with Los Aldama and China to the west. It is 182 km away from Monterrey, at a height of 134 MASL.

This municipality took its name from Dr. Jose Eleuterio Gonzalez “Gonzalitos” famous physician born in Jalisco, raised in Nuevo Leon, who dedicated his life to the service of mankind. This municipality was previously named Hacienda de Ramos, and takes its new name after the doctor when it is declared free on November the 5th, 1883 by decrete of Nuevo Leon State Congress. Doctor Gonzalez is at 25º26′ latitude north and 95º57′ longitude west in the central-east region of Nuevo Leon, at a height of 404 MASL. It is 48 km away from Monterrey, going along Highway Monterrey – Miguel Aleman.

It takes its name in honor of the National Independence leader, General Nicolas Bravo Rueda, who was president of Mexico. It is located in the east part of Nuevo Leon at 25º48′ latitude north and 99°10′ de longitude west, at 150 MASL. It borders on the north with Doctor Coss and Camargo, on the south with China, on the east with Reynosa, and on the west with China.

Its name is in honor of the rebel brothers Jose Martin Herrera and coronel Rafael Herrera; the first one a N.L. hero, and the second one a warlord from the San Bernabe battle. It was previously called Rancho de la Manteca. This municipality is northeast from Monterrey, in the “Coastal Plain of the Gulf”, precisely in the central-eastern part of the state, just at latitude north 25º53′ and longitude west 99º33′ at 281 MASL.

Coming from the last name of Juan Ignacio and Buenaventura Ramon, leaders of the Mexican Independence. Los Ramones is located in the eastern central region of Nuevo Leon, at 25º42′ latitude north and 99º37′ longitude west. Altitude: 226 MASL. Borders with Cerralvo on the north, with General Teran on the south, on the east with China and Los Herreras, and on the west with Cadereyta Jimenez, Pesqueria and Dr. Gonzalez.

This name goes in honor of the illustrious Dr. Primo Feliciano Marin de Porras, chaplain in honor of the King of Spain. He was devoted in Morelia (1802) and months later came to claim his elevated position. He managed his charge as bishop for 12 years and dies in this city in 1815. This municipality is northeast of the state, at a latitude of 25º23′ and longitude west of 100º02′. It borders on north with Higueras, on south with Pesqueria, on the east with Doctor Gonzalez, and on the west with General Zuazua. Altitude: 393 MASL.

During the governmental period of General Porfirio G. Gonzalez, the decree number 126 was expedited on December 16, 1924, and by request of the interested in this Congregation, this place was called “Melchor Ocampo” in honor to the Minister of External Relations of President Don Benito Juarez. This decree came into force on January 1, 1925. This municipality is located on the northeast part of the state at exactly 25º03′ latitude north and 99º33′ longitude west, at 145 MASL. It borders on the north with General Treviño, on the south with Los Herreras, on the east with Los Aldamas, and on the west with Cerralvo.
